Fort Hancock ISD has an active School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) that meets four times per year.
Our district SHAC is active in providing advice and making recommendations to district officials and the FHISD Board of Trustees on matters that are components which address a comprehensive school health program. These include, but are not necessarily limited to, the following:
Health Instruction
Healthy and Safe School Environment
Bullying Prevention Efforts
School Health Services
Physical Education
School Counseling
Nutrition and Food Services
Wellness Activities
Parental Involvement
Our district SHAC is made up of parents, students, teachers, coaches, counselors, nurses, social workers, parent liaisons, nutrition and food service personnel, campus administrators, district administrators, and representatives from agencies who assist us with our programs and initiatives. We believe that a comprehensive approach to coordinated school health begins with the involvement of all stakeholders in the school district and greater Fort Hancock community.
